A tense and atmospheric mystery set in an isolated Arctic town where a violent crime disrupts the supposedly safe community. The stark landscape, strong cast and gradual suggestion that something much stranger may be happening give it an unusual blend of crime drama, psychological thriller and horror. Very intriguing so far.
Slow Horses
A sharp, darkly funny spy series about disgraced MI5 agents. Gary Oldman is especially entertaining as the thoroughly unpleasant but highly capable Jackson Lamb.
The Creep Tapes
Expanding on the found-footage horror franchise, this series unravels the chilling video archives of an eccentric, deadly killer. It delivers an uncomfortably intimate look at delusion and terror, blending dark humour with sudden, unsettling suspense.

A psychological mystery with some effective and affecting moments, although the series ultimately felt less convincing than its premise promised. Interesting enough to finish, but it left me wondering whether The Minds of Billy Milligan, the book that inspired it, might offer greater depth.

A strange and tense psychological mystery about a reporter returning to her hometown to investigate two murders. Its oppressive atmosphere and uneasy family relationships make it particularly compelling.
Castle Rock
A psychological horror series that weaves characters and themes from the Stephen King multiverse into the shadowy, fictional Maine town. It builds an atmospheric sense of dread, turning familiar literary lore into a slow-burn mystery.

The Walking Dead: Dead City (Season 3)
Maggie and Negan navigate the crumbling, walker-infested vertical ruins of post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Season 3 pushes their fragile, volatile alliance into darker territory as new power struggles emerge in the city's neon-lit depths.
Alone (Season 13)
Hardcore survivalists face the wilderness alone with no camera crews. Great season, though it delivered a hilarious contrast one night: while eating my quiet vegan dinner, a Slovenian contestant proceeded to feast on moose testicles.
Servant
Great atmosphere and eerie visuals make this a gripping watch, even when the plot feels a bit 'winding' at times. Seeing Ron Weasley in a new role was fun, and the show leans heavily into an unsettling mood and mystery-box setup.

Silo
A gripping underground mystery with strong world-building and an atmosphere that kept me interested long after the season ended. I enjoyed it enough to start Hugh Howey’s original book trilogy.
Slow Horses
A sharp, funny spy series about a dysfunctional group of MI5 agents. Gary Oldman’s performance as the gloriously unpleasant Jackson Lamb brings the books to life so well that I actually prefer the screen adaptation. It also contributed to my new habit of reading the books behind television series I enjoy.
Severance
A clever and unsettling science-fiction mystery built around the separation of work and personal memory. The strange office environment, dark humour and slowly unfolding conspiracy make it unusually distinctive.
Bob’s Burgers
A consistently funny animated comedy that remains warm, clever and character-driven after many seasons. It has become reliable comfort viewing without feeling entirely predictable.
Memoria
A very slow and unusual film about a person trying to understand a mysterious sound that seemingly nobody else can hear. Strange, meditative and difficult to explain, but it stayed in my thoughts afterwards.
